Small Business seminars and workshops
SCORE offers low-cost business training workshops and seminars for both start-up and in-business entrepreneurs. Workshops and seminars are open to all U.S. citizens over the age of 13.

SEMINARS:  Seminar training topics range from: writing a business plan, marketing, to e-commerce—depending on the current needs of our business community. These are usually free of charge, unless otherwise noted.

       
WORKSHOPS: Hartford SCORE Workshops are formatted to assist small business start-ups, covering the basic information needed to start a successful business venture. Topics include Business Plan writing, financing a small business, legal business structures, tax requirements, and financial and administrative control. Many workshop presenters are practicing professionals including accountants, lawyers, bankers and business mangers from diverse businesses, SCORE and industries. Other facilitators are SCORE counselors who have years of industry and business experience. 

You will receive a comprehensive Business Basics Workbook which will answer many of your small business questions; assessing what type of business is best for you, alternate means of financing a business, steps to take in forming and registering a Connecticut business, principles of financing a business, legal considerations in forming a business, how to select a franchise, factors to consider in buying a business, how to prepare and understand financial statements, how to price your product or service,  small business recordkeeping, types and use of business ratios, points to consider in selecting a name for your business, and other topics.  The price of this book is included in the registration cost.

Times: Workshops are held every third Tuesday of the month (except August) and run from 9:00 AM to 3 PM.  Coffee is served.

Registration:   Registration is at the door starting at 8:30 AM. No advance registration required.

Luncheon Services: Bring your own lunch or eat in cafeteria.  

Cost: $30 per person which includes reference materials. You will be given a 300 page book prepared by Chapter 56 which goes into the detail elements of the topics presented at the workshop, plus other useful reference information.

Location and Parking: Workshops are held at Rensselaer-Hartford, Room 400 located at 275 Windsor Street, Hartford (near the Crowne Plaza Hotel). Parking is free in either lot or parking garage.  Facility is Handicap Accessible.

Directions: I-84 East from West Hartford Take Exit 50 (Main Street), right onto Market Street, left onto Trumbull Street.  Cross Main Street at light. Left onto Windsor Street.  Rensselaer on left.

               I-84 West from East Hartford
Take Exit 50 (Main Street), right onto Market Street.  First left onto Trumbull Street.  Next right onto Windsor Street. Rensselaer on left.

               I-91 South from Springfield
Take Exit 32B (Trunbull Street). Take second right onto Windsor Street.  Rensselaer on left.

               I-91 from New Haven
Same directions as for I-91 Southbound. Exit 32B.

               From Route 2
Take Exit 2W for I-84 West and I-91North.  Take Exit 50. Right onto Market Street.  First left onto Trumbull Street.  Next right onto Market Street.  Rensselaer on left.
